History of St. Agnes Junior School

St. Agnes Junior School opened the doors for the learners on the 3rd of February 2015 with 42 children and 5 teachers.
The Nursery section of the school started in the year 2022 and starting on a strong and firm foundation, the ECD section took off with ease.
We are now in our 9th year of un interrupted operation growing from strength to strength. Our vivid existence is positively felt by not only the surrounding divisions of Kampala but also nationally as well as internationally as we have children with over twenty nationalities.
In the UNEB PLE, 2022, St. Agnes Junior School emerged as the best Primary school in the whole of Makindye Division in Kampala district.
In the Ten years of operation, we have not only provided academics and co-curricular activities but we have also impacted communities by reaching out to the vulnerable members of society through our community service outreach initiatives.
St. Agnes being a dynamic school, virtual learning continued even when the schools were closed for physical learning as result of the COVID 19 Pandemic. Two learners that studied virtually from P.5 to P.7 were able to pass 2022 UNEB PLE with Aggregate 4.

PRIMARY SECTION

The Primary SECTION OF St. Agnes Junior School is a vibrant one offering all the four UNEB examinable subjects as per the national Curriculum. We offer a broad and balanced curriculum in a multi-cultural setting.

Children are taught child centered methods. Teachers also differentiate teaching methods to cater for the different learners abilities.

Beyond the four examinable subjects, St. Agnes offers computer lessons, music lessons, Kiswahili, and French lessons to out learners.

We have posted outstanding performance at PLE as we emerged the best in Makindye in 2022.

Our major focus is nurturing an all-round child that is a critical thinker, confident and all other soft skills that can enable them to navigate the 21st Century challenges

St. Agnes is proud of the vibrant Nursery section. We aim to provide each child with a fulfilling nursery experience that enables them to develop their ability with respect to creativity, imagination, and critical thinking. We teach children using Jolly phonics methods which equips our learners with skills to blossom in all other learning areas of social development as well as numeracy.

We have various clubs and communities as part of our co-curricular program. We have clubs like Soccer, Swimming, Ballet, Cookery and bakery, Debate, scouts and Girl Guides, Community service/ Charity, Basketball, Skating, Writers club, Environment club, chess, Brain master for Maths enhancement, Music Dance and Drama club among others.

School parent engagements.

We engage our parents all the time so that they move on the same pace with the school. We have a strong Parent Teacher Association for the Primary and a strong Centre Management committee for our ECD section. Parents are regularly following on the progress of learners using the Student led conferences that are organized from time to time.

Subject Offered

We offer all the four main national curriculum examinable subjects of Maths, Science, English and Social Studies. Beyond the four examinable subjects, we also offer non examinable subjects including: French, Kiswahili, Music, ICT lessons and Physical education to match international standards.

Assessments

Since assessment and evaluation is a key component of the teaching and learning process, we engage in the continuous assessments as well as summative assessments for all classes and in all subjects. This helps us in checking the effectiveness of our approaches, techniques, methodologies and ascertaining the masterly of content by our learners such that where learners have challenges, we are able to rectify at the earliest. To us at St. Agnes, we believe that each child has their own learning pace, style and each child is an achiever.
